GENERAL INFORMATION

Championship Host Location
Kirksville, MO; 1000 Hills State Park. The race site is seven miles from downtown Kirksville, in a beautiful state park; the lake is a basin without any cabins or docks except the marina area owned by the state. This pristine park is an ideal location. The site has been a regional championship location six prior years of the fifteen years we have held this race.

Swim
Forest Lake located at 1000 Hills State Park is the swim venue. The lake swim conditions are: 78 degrees, with an air temp. of approx. 80 degrees (typical conditions). Forest Lake serves as the primary water supply for Kirksville.

The preliminary water temp. is taken by the race director the day before the event. The USA Triathlon referee officially checks the water temp. one hour before the race and declares it a wetsuit/no wetsuit race. We officially open the swim beach for warm up at 7:15 am when the lifeguards are on duty.

Bike
Out and back course, one very steep hill and several other rolling hills, three major turns at intersections and a turnaround all on two lane state and county highways with paved shoulders. Since the course is out and back, wind conditions don't usually effect most of the times.

Run
Out and back, very steep hill between 1/2 mile and 1.5 mile on the way out, which the athletes come back down on the way back at 3.5 to 4.5 miles. The run course has 25 volunteers along the way, it is entirely in the state park; has many great spots for spectators to observe from with ample parking; six aid stations providing cups of water at the 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 2 mile, 3 mile, 4 mile, and 4.5 mile.

Athlete Amenities
Food is provided at the pre-race meeting, includes pizza, sub sandwiches, Gatorade; Post-race includes BBQ chicken, bottled water, soda and beer, take out strawberries, powerbar crystal lite and kool aid.
